Sophie's best-selling series, popular with French and international readers, was first adapted into a cartoon in 2010. An online video game was also created in 2011. The first episodes of the new animated series adaptation of the saga were released in 2021, a project piloted by Sophie herself and which marks the first step in Tara's return to the screens.

Tara's first manuscript was sent in 1991, but it was in 2003 that the first volume of the adventures of the young Spellbinder was finally published. Following the success of this first volume, Sophie has written 21 other novels, for adults and children. She was honored by the Order of Arts and Letters(2014) and the Legion of Honor (2016).

She has been writing since she was 12 years old and is above all a passionate reader, drawing her inspiration from her amazing library full of thousands of books. Crazy and enthusiastic, her imagination never lets her rest.

Sophie Audouin-Mamikonian's world

At 11 years old, Tara is an ordinary girl who, after spending her childhood on Earth, travels to Otherworld to learn to control her awakened magical powers. 

A descendant of Spellbinders and heir to the imperial throne of MeMe, her powers are the strongest in the world, allowing her to protect the empire and her loved ones. 

Very clumsy, she causes as many disasters as she solves, especially when her powers get out of hand. Curious and willing, she never hesitates to come to the aid of the inhabitants of Otherworld. 

She is one of the few Spellbinders to have a pegasus as a familiar.

Initially a gift from the dragons for Tara's arrival on Otherworld, Galla has become her familiar, which she miniaturises in order to easily keep him by her side. Clever and teasing, Galla is also a very brave pegasus and a bit of a show-off.

Cal is a clever and very smart Spotter apprentice, and a student of Master Chem at the Imperial Palace of MeMe. 

Geek and clever, he spends his time inventing new gadgets that come in handy on missions. A master of disguise, he can go unnoticed in all circumstances, even without using his magic. 

His witty sense of humour allows him to lighten up even the most tense situations and he loves playing pranks on his friends and teachers. Underneath his casual demeanor, he is very diligent and efficient.

Cal's familiar is as mischievous as the young Spotter he is bound to. Cunning and agile, he accompanies Cal on all his missions. Gourmet and sometimes lazy, he mirrors the young boy in every way.

Sparrow is Tara's best friend and is a clever mix of a sweet young girl... and a Beast! 

Descendant of Beauty and the Beast, she can transform into an amazing beast when she wants to, but also when she doesn't. Her encounter with the MagicGang has helped her overcome her stammer. 

Gentle and studious, she is a veritable encyclopedia on the history and peoples of Otherworld. While she is shy in human form, her Beast form makes her very bold.

Sparrow's real name is Gloria.

Sheeba is as imposing as she is quiet and reserved. Sparrow's familiar, they are both inseparable. Easily frightened, she nevertheless does not hesitate to face danger if Sparrow needs her help.

Robin is a 13 year old half elf, a bright student and a talented archer. Like the other elves, he is very close to plants and can communicate with them. 

Robin is good at solving puzzles and thinking rationally, an important asset to the MagicGang, to whom he usually offers very good advice... unfortunately, not always followed.  

Reasonable in all circumstances, Robin is a sensitive boy and a perfect gentleman, which does not prevent him from trying his hand at jokes from time to time.

His black locks come from his human mother.

Fafnir is a talented warrior and Spellbinder. But like all dwarves she hates magic and tries to get rid of it by any possible way. 

As a dwarf princess, she decided to go to MeMe so that her magic would not put her people at risk, showing great maturity. 

Impulsive, she loves to fight. Sporty and competitive, her friends are never bored with her. Beyond her gruff appearance, she is capable of great tenderness and shows great insight. 

Xandiar would love to recruit her to protect the palace.

Master Chem is a dragon working for the Empress of MeMe as an advisor and teacher for the young Spellbinders. 

Balancing all his responsibilities, he is a pillar in the life of the palace and for the empire. As an expert in magic, he perfectly fulfils his role as a mentor for the young Spellbinders.  

He is mischievous and likes to teach magic through practical and sometimes curious exercises. Underneath his eccentric side, he has a great sense of diplomacy... when his emotions aren't playing tricks on him.

When he is particularly stressed, he sneezes flames.

Mani is Tara's grandfather who, while testing one of his potions, accidentally turned into a dog. It is to get him out of this predicament that Tara goes to Otherworld. 

He shares a great complicity with his granddaughter, whom he never hesitates to help in her missions, even when it means covering for her with the other adults. 

Although dizzy and lazy, he is encouraging and has a very inventive mind. His goofy and affectionate side makes the heroes easily forget his old age. 

It was his transformation that awakened Tara's powers.

Lisbeth is Tara's aunt, the Empress of MeMe and one of the most important Spellbinder in Otherworld, who ensures the safety of her people and governs thoughtfully.  

Her daily life has become particularly difficult since Tara's arrival at the palace and all the disasters that followed, but she watches over her niece with care.

Strict and irritable, she quickly becomes annoyed by the agitation caused by the young Spellbinders. Some moments of inattention give a glimpse of a woman who appreciates calm and tenderness.

She makes skin care masks for herself before going to sleep.

Xiandar is a four-armed Thug and chief of guards at the palace of MeMe. Beyond his duties, he is also mindful of the welfare of the young Spellbinders living in the palace.

Magister and his plans to attack Tara make life difficult for him, but he can count on the MagicGang to help him protect the people of Tingal.

He is very serious and diligent in his work, and is honest and fair, although he can sometimes be driven by his competitive spirit. 

He challenges Cal to test the palace's protection systems.

Magister is a Spellbinder whose only goal is the conquest of Otherworld. To achieve this, he is after Tara's powers and spends most of his time trying to trick her. 

Accompanied by his faithful servants, the Bloodgraves, with whom he hides in the Grey Fortress, he devises devious plans to intercept the young girl. 

He is as impatient as his Bloodgraves are clumsy, which tends to make him easily enraged.  

Depending on his moods, the colour of his mask changes.

Angelica is a Spellbinder who came to MeMe to learn magic from Master Chem and join the empire's Celestial Ball team. 

She never gives up when faced with a challenge, even if it means breaking the rules, which tends to precipitate many catastrophes in the palace and proves that she still has a lot to learn. 

She is haughty and pretentious, and does not hesitate to play tricks to get what she wants. Underneath her annoying shell, she hides a lot of ambition and insecurity. 

Magister is her biggest fan.

Angelica's familiar is not always the smartest companion. Proud to be a dragon, small as he is, he readily uses his ability to spit flames at a whim. Not very brave, he spends his time perched on Angelica's shoulder.

Carol is Angelica's best friend, whom she has followed to MeMe in order to perfect her magical skills.

She accompanies Angelica at all times, even if it means getting into trouble. Although she sometimes causes trouble, she has very good reflexes allowing her to turn the situation to her advantage. 

Devoted and enthusiastic friend, she is easily moved and impressed by Angelica's talents or opinions, which she always defends at all costs. Shy and helpful, she is very caring. 

She loves to invent new expressions.
